Poor Dave

So Dave had a busy night last night.

Managed to get out of putting the girls down to sleep by breaking his arm. Guess I'll do it for the next, oh, few months. On a serious note, though, he's in a lot of pain but doesn't complain. My idol.

Teresa's like me. When faced with a crisis, she cleans. Makes her feel like she has control.

He broke it playing basketball, by the way. It's a little eerie that both he and I have broken limbs playing basketball and ended up at Arlington Hospital.

Two peas in a pod

Sorry, too cute not to post.

All gone

The tree was down in about 3 hours. Grinding the stump took even longer.

Now we can be confident that a pine limb won't fall on our heads when we're out front on a windy day. Next project: mulching.

Entertainment for the day

It's amazing what these men do. This guy is scaling an enormous pine tree in our front yard with a chain saw dangling from his waist. Talk about guts; the risk of death in a job like this is insanely high. Eeek.

On a selfish note, watching the drama unfold is a great way to spend a sick day.

Valentine's Day Cookies

I realized at the end of the previous post that it was Valentine's Day (maybe you noticed the somewhat cursory Valentine's wishes at the end...), which proves that having an anniversary right before Valentine's day renders it a little overlooked every year.

So we made cookies (substituting chocolate buttercream for the pomegranate stuff- who would choose fruit frosting over chocolate??) to make the day a little special.

Soon enough, David, soon enough. And did I say it was in the 50's today? Since then we reached 70 degrees! Glorious.

Hints of Spring

(Tired of winter.)

Still too early to get excited, but it's in the 50's today! In our frenzy we decided to shed coats and brave the chill with just sweaters.

Grandmommy and Frankie planted a seed bed of tomatoes, sunflowers, peas and squash. We have high hopes for our vegetable garden this summer now that our back yard is construction-free.

Oh, and happy St. Valentine's Day!
