Sacrificing, one bean at a time
We've gotten a late start, but we've officially begun our Lenten bean jar, a great idea I got from here. When Frankie makes a sacrifice or does a good deed (e.g. eats her vegetables, reads a story to Teresa, cleans up a mess), she diligently adds a bean to the jar. By Easter the jar should be full of sacrifices (beans) offered to God, and Easter morning the beans in the jar will have turned into...jelly beans! We've made modest headway. A setback occurred when Frankie took the jar to bed with her one night. One bean disappeared and another looked as though it had been bit in half. I'm sure God remembers those deeds no longer represented.
